How SAP strengthens your industrial operations
With SAP Manufacturing, Quality & Asset Management, you gain reliability, visibility and control across your entire production environment. You plan more accurately, monitor shop-floor operations in real time, ensure quality, extend asset life and steer performance using integrated, trustworthy data.
Reliable production planning & scheduling
With SAP PP/PPDS, build realistic plans, optimize sequencing and secure execution to reduce delays and bottlenecks.
Real-time visibility & full traceability
SAP Digital Manufacturing and MII give you live insight into shop-floor operations, machine connectivity and end-to-end traceability.
Quality & compliance assurance
SAP QM centralizes inspections and documentation, strengthens regulatory compliance and speeds up audits.
Optimized maintenance & asset reliability
With SAP PM and SAP Asset Manager, increase equipment availability, reduce breakdowns and extend asset lifecycle.
Data-driven performance management
Track KPIs such as OEE, costs and non-quality events. Use real-time analytics to improve performance and support informed decision-making.
SAP Manufacturing: a connected, end-to-end
value chain
We design integrated architectures where SAP PP/PPDS aligns demand with capacity, SAP Digital Manufacturing executes and traces shop-floor operations in real time, SAP MII connects machines and collects production data, and SAP QM and SAP PM ensure quality and asset reliability.
The result: a seamless, auditable and data-driven manufacturing process, where every decision is informed by real-time context across planning, execution, quality and maintenance.
We industrialize your data models, workflows, screens and KPIs to deliver measurable, long-lasting performance gains.

Frequently asked questions about SAP Manufacturing
Clear answers about SAP Manufacturing, Quality & Asset Management, from ECC/S/4HANA compatibility to the differences between PP, PP/DS, MII and Digital Manufacturing, mobile maintenance, and migration paths to SAP’s new manufacturing solutions.
Is SAP S/4HANA required?
- SAP PP/PPDS : PP is available on both ECC6 and S/4HANA. PPDS is only available on S/4HANA (embedded since release 1610).
- SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) : Cloud-native MES, designed for S/4HANA but also connectable to ECC via SAP Plant Connectivity.
- SAP MII : Works with both ECC and S/4HANA.
- SAP PM/QM : Available on ECC and S/4HANA.
- SAP Asset Manager : Mobile application connected via SAP BTP/SAP Mobile Services, compatible with both ECC and S/4.
What’s the difference between SAP Digital Manufacturing and SAP MII?
SAP Digital Manufacturing is a cloud-native MES focused on real-time execution, traceability and shop-floor visibility.
SAP MII is an on-premise IT/OT integration layer.
They can complement each other depending on your maturity and architecture.
How do SAP PP and PP/DS differ?
SAP PP handles standard planning (MRP, orders, BOMs).
PP/DS adds advanced planning capabilities: constraint-based scheduling, heuristics and optimized sequences.
How can maintenance be made mobile?
With HRC Software, you get ready-to-use mobile apps requiring no extra infrastructure, deployable in hours, enabling technicians to manage work orders, inspections, checklists and spare parts, even offline.
SAP Asset Manager also offers Fiori-based mobile apps for maintenance teams.
Can we migrate from SAP ME/MII to SAP Digital Manufacturing?
Yes. With SAP ending mainstream maintenance for ME/MII in 2027, a progressive transition path exists: coexistence, migration of data and processes, then full cutover. ME/MII remain supported, but SAP Digital Manufacturing is the strategic target.
