Background

HTI Group (High Technology Industries) is a global leader in mountain and winter technology, bringing together iconic brands such as LEITNER, POMA, BARTHOLET, AGUDIO (ropeways), PRINOTH, JARRAFF (snow grooming and tracked vehicles), DEMACLENKO, WLP (snowmaking and dust suppression), SKADII (ski resort management), LEITWIND (wind energy) and TROYER (hydropower).

With 4,700 employees, 21 production sites and 108 subsidiaries worldwide, the group combines industrial know-how, innovation and a strong commitment to ethics, quality and sustainable growth.

In 2024, LEITNER opened its new logistics site in Oppeano, Italy. The ambition was clear: create a best-in-class warehouse with strong traceability and operational performance, while establishing a foundation for group-wide logistics automation.

Project challenges

To support rising volumes and prepare for a future transition to SAP S/4HANA, HTI needed to:

  • Boost logistics performance and operational traceability
  • Deploy a scalable WMS that could later integrate with automation systems
  • Equip warehouse operators with modern, easy-to-use mobile apps
  • Anticipate a future S/4HANA migration without disrupting day-to-day operations

The solution

HRC Consulting designed and deployed a decentralised SAP EWM landscape on S/4HANA, hosted alongside the existing ECC6 system and fully integrated with it.
This setup provides the scalability and flexibility needed for future growth and automated equipment integration.

In just three months, HRC teams rolled out HRC Warehouse, the mobile solution developed by HRC Software: a ready-to-use suite of logistics apps, fully integrated with SAP and requiring no additional infrastructure.

The applications provide:

  • Real-time stock management through a smooth, modern interface
  • Streamlined inbound and outbound operations
  • Embedded quality checks via SAP QM
  • A significantly improved user experience compared to legacy RF transactions
  • Easy adoption, even for operators with little or no SAP background

Strong project governance

The project was jointly managed by HTI’s SAP organisation and HRC Consulting, following a demanding timeline supported by close collaboration between business, IT and warehouse teams.

Each phase - design, build, deployment - was delivered on schedule, enabling a seamless go-live of the new logistics infrastructure.

Results

Within a few months, the Oppeano site transitioned to a fully modern, connected and high-performing logistics system.

Key benefits include:

  • Significant improvements in operational efficiency
  • Enhanced traceability and stronger compliance
  • Faster onboarding thanks to intuitive mobile interfaces
  • Real-time, centralised control of warehouse processes
  • A scalable foundation for deployment to additional sites and for future automation initiatives
